Case Corporation introduces its most versatile line of utility tractors ever with the unveiling of the Case IH C Series and CX Series models. These tractors, offered in six sizes ranging from 40 to 84 PTO horsepower, perform a wide variety of farmyard and field work while providing an outstanding environment for operators.

"Our customers told us they were looking for a lot of functions coming from tractors in this class, says Bill Weber, Case marketing application specialist. "Since they're used so much, farmers also want them to be comfortable."

"We're excited about the role these tractors can play, and so are the farmers who helped us with the design."

The versatility starts in the setup of the tractors, Weber says. All the models -- the CX50, CX60, CX70, CX80, CX90 and CX100 -- are available in flat platform or cab configurations -- with mechanical front drive available if desired as well as loaders, so operators will be able to choose an equipment combination tailored to their needs. Straddle style tractors, identified as C Series models, are also available in all six sizes.

More field time, less cost The engines deliver an optimum package of power and economy, Weber says. "The engines develop up to 37% PTO torque rise and high maximum torque to pull through the tough spots, yet they've very economical. Combined with the 40-gallon fuel tank on the cab and flat platform models, that efficiency provides extended hours of operation before refueling."

Easy, reliable starts are another important feature for a versatile tractor. "These models start well, and the new combustion technology results in less visible smoke and cleaner operation," Weber says.

Operator comfort also is improved by low engine noise levels. Noise levels are rated at 73 dB(A), for cab-equipped models, the lowest sound level in the industry. Ergonomically designed controls also increase efficiency.

The hydraulics of the new series are stout, he notes. Total hydraulic capacity is 26 gallons per minute, with 18.4 gallons per minute sent to the hitch and remotes. This capacity results in exceptional flow for every job, decreased cycle times and increased lift capacity. The oil level in this system can be checked cold, to make maintenance easier.

Easy to operate, easy to service Maneuverability is excellent. Full hydrostatic power steering reduces operator strain, and low noise levels lessen operator fatigue.

Serviceability also has been built into these new models. The single, vertical oil filter is readily accessible, and comes out clean, Weber says. Side panels are easy to remove for service or to inspect the engine, and cab models come with a tilt hood option.

Those choosing a cab model will be able to get in and out easily. Steps are wide and two doors allow entry from either side of the cab, making the tractor more accessible in close quarters. The narrow front corner posts and nearly 57 square feet of glass provide a panoramic view, making fieldwork and loader observations easier.

Weber recommends checking with local Case IH dealers to determine availability of the cab, platform and straddle models. Some models may not be available in all areas until spring 1998.
