Tractomotive was a US manufacturer of construction equipment, notably wheel loaders. Tractomotive was founded in 1945 to build shovel loaders for Allis Chalmers crawlers. The company introduced wheel loaders in 1948 based on Allis Chalmers farm tractors. Tractomotive was closely associated with Allis and products were sold through Allis dealers. Allis Chalmers purchased Tractomotive in 1959 and integrated it into its industrial equipment group. Tractomotive's Deerfield, Illinois factory (then owned by Fiat-Allis) closed in 1980.
