Big Bud Tractors Inc. was born out of the Wagner tractor dealership in Havre, Montana in 1961. The company's goal was to build heavy-duty high horsepower tractors. The tractors used industrial engines fitted to custom built frames. The company developed a number of innovations for heavy duty tractors, including tilt cavs and a skid system for engine removal.
The company fell into bankrupty in the early 1980s and was purchased by Messner Brothers in 1985. Production slowed in the late 1980s and the last Big Bud rolled off the line in 1992.
