Massey Ferguson, North America has received four AE50 awards from the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE). Innovative Massey Ferguson products recognized by ASABE ranged from the 1500 Series compact tractors to the largest, high horsepower, fixed frame 8400 Series tractors. According to the organization, the awards recognize the “best and the brightest” from around the globe.

“It is always exciting to receive this kind of professional recognition for products introduced over the past year,” says Eric Raby, vice president, marketing, Massey Ferguson, North America “These awards restate what our customers tell us. Innovative Massey Ferguson tractors are anticipating and meeting customer needs for improved productivity and profitability as never before.”

Massey Ferguson 1547 and 1552 compact tractors received an AE50 award for their clutchless shifting between speeds in each of three ranges. “The DynaQPS™ transmission lets operators change speeds on the go, without depressing the clutch, for greater operator efficiency and enhanced performance,” says Steve Barcuch, general marketing manager, Massey Ferguson compact tractors. “These tractors are the workhorses of the compact line, and operators often put in long hours on them. They appreciate the easy shifting with nearelimination of clutching with the DynaQPS.”

The Dyna-6 with its increased fuel efficiency, speed matching and variable AutoDrive won an AE50 award for the 95-115 hp Massey Ferguson 6400 Series tractors. “Customers love the Dyna-6 transmission, especially when it comes to filling the fuel tank,” says Rene Boivin, general marketing manager, Massey Ferguson midrange and high horsepower tractors. “ASABE cited the clutchless forward/reverse power shuttling and clutchless gear and range changing. The awards committee also pointed to the increased operator efficiency of AutoDrive, which automatically shifts the transmission under load to maintain a preset rpm.”

ASABE also recognized the “Breathe-easy” HVAC system standard on Massey Ferguson 5400SA Series tractors. Superior in-cab respiratory protection includes keeping particles larger than 3 microns in size out of the cab and maintaining a positive air pressure for optimum protection, even with winds of up to 22 mph. “Air is recirculated every 36 seconds for operator comfort, and the system meets ASAE S525-1.2 standards for operators in spraying applications,” says Boivin. “Breathe-easy systems in our 5400SA tractors provide unsurpassed respiratory protection and maximum productivity.”

Setting “a new standard for high-horsepower, fixed-frame tractors” earned the Massey Ferguson 8400 Series an AE50 award as well, according to the ASABE. The new chassis, new SisuDiesel engines (7.4- and 8.4-L) and smooth shifting 3-range, 21-speed Dyna-Step™ transmission create a superior line of 180 to 240 hp tractors. “Customers and ASABE judges alike appreciate the clutchless variable design of the Dyna-Step transmission, as well as the Datatronics III programming with headland management,” says Boivin. “They also like the comfort provided by a maximum 71-dBa sound level in the cab and two-stage cab suspension.”

The four awards share a common Massey Ferguson theme of making technology accessible for the end user, suggests Raby. “All four AE50 awards are for technology that we have applied to our tractors, but there is nothing technical about it for the user,” he says. “Whether it is a clutchless transmission, a safer cab for spraying or a tractor that is more efficient and comfortable, these changes simply make the work day easier and more productive for our customers.”
