New Holland's 40-50 hp Boomer compact cab tractors with EasyDrive Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) usher in a new level of ease and control. The EasyDrive CVT provides smooth, seamless speed changes using a single pedal to control both travel speed and engine speed. The operator can simply press the pedal and go, and the transmission will automatically adjust to deliver the desired speed and match load conditions.

The EasyDrive CVT transmission is available on New Holland's Boomer 3040, 3045 and 3050 compact cab tractors, and on the Boomer 8N.

Compact transmission with efficient power delivery
The heart of the EasyDrive CVT transmission is the Chain Drive Variator, comprised of a steel chain running between two variable diameter pulleys. Each pulley consists of one moveable disc and one fixed disc that have sloped surfaces. The discs can move closer or farther apart to vary their effective diameter and provide an infinite number of transmission ratios.

The easy-to-use transmission is operated by a shuttle lever and a single speed control foot pedal. The pedal determines engine speed and the transmission controller maximizes forward speed for the applied load. Once the pedal is released, the tractor will decelerate to a stop in a smooth and controlled manner.

The EasyDrive transmission has a speed range of up to 18.6 mph and moves seamlessly and continuously while accelerating or decelerating. Sensors are used to measure torque, engine speed and variator speed to control the transmission electronically.

Three transmission speed ranges allow 30%, 60% or 100% of maximum forward speed to be achieved with the pedal fully depressed, enabling the operator to set the speed range for the current application. An automotive-style cruise control allows the operator to hold or fine tune working speeds for fixed speed applications. A useful anti-stall function can automatically disengage the drive before the engine stalls, ideal when pushing a loader into heavy material. Finally, a Reactivity setting allows the operator to adjust the acceleration and deceleration characteristics of the tractor to suit their driving style or application.
