One of the most popular names in the history of agricultural equipment, Farmall is famous for its rugged versatility, proven performance and functional design. This fall, Case IH is announcing several compact and utility tractor improvements for model year 2008, making the legendary Farmall tractor lineup even better. Upgrades include Tier 3-compliant engines, higher horsepower in larger models, a new Class 3, 50-hp Farmall compact tractor and a simpler naming system for the entire Farmall family.

"We're phasing out the D/DX, JX, JXU, JXN and JXC designations and putting the Farmall name front and center again," says Greg Lucey, Case IH Farmall marketing manager. Lucey adds that each model name will include a number to reflect its engine horsepower rating.

Class 2 & Class 3 compact tractor improvements In 2008, all Farmall Class 2 and Class 3 compact tractors, formerly identified as D or DX models, will have a new Tier 3 engine. Class 2 includes Farmall 31 and 35 models. In Class 3, Case IH offers the Farmall 40 and 45, along with the new Farmall 50 - the first 50 hp Farmall in the lineup.

"Our customers will have the option of equipping the Farmall 40, 45 and 50 with either ROPS or a comfortable, user-friendly cab," Lucey says. In addition, the Farmall 40 and 45 compact tractors will be available with gear and hydrostatic transmission options. Farmall 50 models will be equipped with gear transmissions.

Class 4 Farmalls - formerly the DX55 and DX60 - will be re-named Farmall 55 and Farmall 60 in 2008. Cab versions of both models were introduced in 2007, already equipped with Tier 3 engines.

Farmall, Farmall U & Farmall C tractors In 2008, the Farmall 70, 80, 90 and 95 (previously known as JX models) will come fully Tier 3 engine compliant along with other product upgrades. "These models are ideally suited and sized for livestock and dairy operations and part-time operators, with a simple, proven design that's economical to purchase and maintain," Lucey says.

Formerly known as JXU tractors, the 2008 Farmall 85U, 95U and 105U utility tractors will sport a new Tier 3 engine, new 12 x 12 Power Shuttle option and other upgrades. "These are deluxe models with industry-leading features and sophisticated options to enhance productivity," Lucey adds. "They work well with all diversified farming operations, especially livestock and dairy. They are great machines for material handling chores, hay cutting and baling work"

Product changes to the old JXC lineup - now called Farmall 65C, 75C, 85C and 95C - include a Tier 3 engine with greater fuel efficiency; a transmission upgrade to handle increased power and torque; faster travel speed; an increase in 3-point lift capacity and other upgrades. In addition, 2008 Farmall C models also will be available in narrow versions (Farmall 75N and 95N).

"These diverse Farmall tractors are built with fruit growing, forestry, material handling and municipal applications in mind," says Lucey. "They're versatile, productive and reliable - exactly what you've come to expect from a Farmall."

The legendary brand dates back to 1923, when 22 Farmalls were hand-built and tested by farmers. Soon after the initial field tests, International Harvester filed patent applications for the Farmall, which quickly began to revolutionize agriculture as the world's first row-crop tractor.

"In 2004, Case IH proudly reintroduced the Farmall name with a lineup of versatile, efficient and powerful subcompact, compact and utility tractors that more than live up to the celebrated Farmall name," says Lucey. "Today's Farmall tractors retain their reputation as reliable workhorses for a wide variety of operators - from cash grain and dairy farmers to hobby farmers, from grape growers to municipal mowers."
