Two Case IH STX Series Steiger tractor models – the STX275 and STX325 – recently set three new records in the independent Nebraska Tractor Test Laboratory results.

"The Nebraska tests have long been regarded as a ‘consumer report’ for new agricultural tractors," explains Montie Milner, Case IH product marketing manager for four-wheel-drive tractors. "Like their record-setting big brothers, the small frame STX tractors lead the industry by providing customers the most productive and comfortable four-wheel-drive tractors on the market."

Record-setting performance The STX275 and STX325 tractors set the following records:

  • Hydraulic flow produced at two remote couplers: 58.4 GPM
  • Cab sound at the operator’s ear: 72.3 dB(A)
  • Maximum hydraulic power at two remote couplers: 81.2 HP
    • For the operator, better hydraulic flow translates to equipment that performs better in more situations. The STX275 and STX325 can be used to operate large implements, like air seeders and planters, which typically require their own hydraulic system. This ability leads to fewer equipment requirements and lower operating costs.

A quiet cab reduces operator strain and fatigue and means the operator can comfortably spend longer hours spent in the cab. This translates into increased productivity for the user.

The Case IH Pressure Flow Hydraulic system contributed the record for maximum hydraulic horsepower. The system regulates the hydraulic horse requirements so that they are applied only when the system is used, and only at the flow and pressure needed to perform the job, resulting in less wasted horsepower.

Family tradition While the small frame models could not exceed their big brothers in the power categories, they did surpass the other tractors in their horsepower class. Like its record-setting big brothers, the STX275 outpaced the competition in PTO power at rated engine speed, maximum PTO power, torque rise, unballasted drawbar horsepower, maximum hydraulic flow, and maximum hydraulic horsepower. Similarly, the STX325 surpassed its competition in maximum hydraulic flow and maximum hydraulic horsepower.

The state of Nebraska requires all agricultural powered tractors over 30 hp to be independently tested. The tests use the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) testing standards as required in some countries. Four tests are completed on each tractor:

      • PTO horsepower
      • Drawbar horsepower
      • Cab sound level
      • Hydraulic system performance

"The Case IH STX Series tractors were designed with input from 2,200 farmers," Milner notes. "This has resulted in both our small and large frame STX Series Steiger tractors meeting customer demands by providing a combination of benefits that maximize productivity and profitability."
