Case Corporation announces the expansion of its popular MX Series line with five new models specially designed, with customer input, to meet livestock and row crop applications. Three new models, the MX80C, MX90C and MX100C are rated at 67, 74 and 83 PTO horsepower. Two additional models, the MX150 and MX170, boast 130 and 145 PTO horsepower respectively.

"Our customers with livestock told us they were looking for highly maneuverable, under-85-horsepower tractors for heavy-duty loader applications. At the same time, our row crop customers were looking for additional horsepower and performance in an MX Series tractor," says Steve Dunmore, Case tractor marketing manager.

"With the success of the 85 to 115 horsepower Maxxum tractors already in the marketplace, we chose to expand this popular family with models tailored to specified livestock and row crop applications."

Designed with livestock in mind Three new models -- the MX80C (67 PTO hp), MX90C (74 PTO hp) and MX100C (83 PTO hp) -- are all designed with the livestock producer in mind. All are equipped with cabs and MFD drive systems. They offer up to 37 percent PTO torque rise for superior PTO performance. They also feature viscous fans, in-line core radiators, in-line oil coolers and turbochargers.

From the ground up, these tractors are designed for maneuverability. With that in mind, the wheelbase has been shortened to less than eight feet. All three have structural engines for a narrower profile and a tighter turning radius, estimated at 12.9 feet. Even the overall height has been lowered three inches for the additional clearance needed for inside work.

These tractors feature a standard 16-speed forward/12-speed reverse semi-powershift transmission with a wet clutch. A powershuttle transmission with left-hand control is also standard for greater operator convenience in loader applications. Creeper transmissions are available for special applications.

All models are equipped with 2950 psi pressure flow compensated hydraulic systems with 25 gpm flow at the rear outlets. In addition, they feature electronic lower-link draft sensing, end of row functions for MFD and diff-lock, and slip control functions.

Operator environments feature all-new design and styling with 56 square feet of glass for optimum visibility. For greater convenience, all three of these models come with two doors as a standard feature. They also boast the quietest cabs in the industry, rated at just 72 dB(A).

Serviceability features include a 50-gallon fuel tank, tilt hood with no side sheets to remove, lube-for-life CV joints and MFD drivetrains. In addition, service is made simpler with all daily maintenance operations performed at ground level.

Additional horsepower and performance Rated at 130 and 145 PTO horsepower respectively, the MX150 and MX170 tractors take the MX Series tradition to a new level of performance. They sport a sleek new design, increased horsepower and greater hydraulic, transmission, final drive and hitch capacities.

Both models feature powerful 359 cubic inch Case engines designed for performance and fuel efficiency. These engines are equipped with turbochargers and aftercoolers, and meet all EPA standards. Case engineers have lengthened the wheelbase 5.9 inches to improve weight transfer and stability with heavy hitch loads. Both models produce up to 38 percent torque rise, which results in outstanding lugging performance.

In addition to more powerful, efficient engines, the MX150 and MX170 both feature heavy-duty components for more demanding applications. The transmissions feature 33 percent more forward and reverse master clutch capacity and larger gear widths and shaft diameters throughout. Heavier-duty final drive components include more planetary sun gear capacities, greater parking/emergency brake capacities and longer axles.

Upgraded PTO features include reversible 540/1000 rpm shafts with a slip-collar design allowing conversion in less than a minute without tools. Clutch capacities have been increased 50 percent and braking capacities have been increased 100 percent.

Both models have a three-point hitch with lift capacity of 12,600 pounds. Two 3.5 inch external hitch lift cylinders and heavier three-point lower links increase hitch strength. "D" handles on the lift links allow easier adjustment.

Additional capacity has been built into the hydraulic systems as well. The standard single hydraulic pump capacity is 31.6 gpm, providing 28 gpm at the remotes.

The cabs are designed with both comfort and styling in mind. They are rated at approximately 72 dB(A) and feature right-hand consoles with the most frequently used controls positioned in the most convenient locations. The narrow front console, A-post exhaust and 56.6 square feet of glass provide better visibility.

Dunmore recommends checking with local Case IH dealers to determine availability. Some models may not be available in all areas until summer 1998.
