Empire farm tractors by model

Empire model 90 tractorThe Empire Tractor Corporation manufactured a light-duty farm tractor in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania starting in 1946. The Empire tractors used a number of war-surplus components from the Willys Jeep, including the engine. The Empire tractors suffered from being too expensive compared with small tractors, and unable to put their power to the ground compared with larger tractors. Willys-Overland suffered the same problems when trying to market the Jeep as a farm tractor. By 1948, Empire had stopped production and the company filed for bankruptcy.
