The second video in the Steiger series and the third in the 4WD Tractor Pioneers series, 4WD Tractor Pioneers: Steiger (part 2) is more of a companion to Steiger (part 1) than a sequel. The first video concentrates on the story of the Steiger company while Part 2 covers other brands and the special production units. In addition to current video of Steigers in operation, extensive use is made of Steiger promotional films from 1974 and 1977.
The video covers tractor that Steiger built for other brands (Allis Chalmers, CO-OP, International Harvester, Ford) as well as Steiger tractors used for construction. Several Steiger prototype tractors are shown including the 650 horsepower Steiger TST-650 and a 270 horsepower two-wheel drive Steiger. Former Steiger president Jack Johnson relates the story of this two-wheel drive and how it was used fool the competition. Footage is also included of the rare Stars-and-Stripes tractor painted for the US Bicentennial. Some of the final machines built before CaseIH took over are shown at work, a pair of tractors that carry the CaseIH 9180 model number but Steiger green paint.
4WD Tractor Pioneers: Steiger (part 2) continues the Steiger story, with a focus on machines not covered in Part 1's company history. Archive film and new interviews supplement extensive video of these big tractors at work, with views inside and out. Steiger (part 2) complements the first video without repeating anything, and also serves as a great video on its own for those more interested in the "other" aspects of Steiger.
