As with Pripps' other "Big Books", the Big Book of Massey Tractors is filled with photos, advertising brochures, and historical anecdotes with less emphasis on raw data. A history of Alanson Harris, Daniel Massey, and their development of harvesting equipment opens the book. The next two chapters are devoted to the Sawyer-Massey steam and gas tractors, and the leased Bull, Parrett, and Wallis tractors built by Massey.

The book proceeds as a model-by-model encyclopdia of Massey Harris, Ferguson, and then Massey Ferguson tractors. It also provides a historical background of Harry Ferguson, and the corporate merger. There is less elaboration on models built after 1980, but basic information (including what models they replaced) is still provided. Some of the photos provide a look at the other areas of the Massey line, including Massey Ferguson snowmobiles and lawn tractors (although there is not a great deal of data provided on these).

Overall, the book is a very good overview of Massey until the AGCO era. It will be of particular interest to anyone interested in the models built in the middle part of the last century, or anyone with an interest in the development of the Canadian agriculture business.
