The Ford 801 is not a single tractor, but a series of tractors where the middle number indicates which options were on the machine. On the serial plate, an additional code followed the model number to indicate further options: 8x1-L: LP gas, 8x1-D: diesel, 8x1-1: single-front wheel, 8x1-4: high-clearance.
