Case IH has announced its most powerful Magnum tractors yet, offering producers the ultimate mix of industry-leading horsepower, fuel efficiency and a new high-horsepower CVT option – while meeting strict Tier 4 B/Final emissions standards. This new 2014 lineup includes significant horsepower upgrades in all Magnum models, thanks to field-proven Case IH Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR)-only emissions technology combined with a new Case IH Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) design for high-horsepower machines that maximizes available power.

"Magnum tractors deliver superior power and fuel efficiency in the toughest conditions through simple, smart design," says Dan Klein, Case IH Marketing Manager for Magnum Tractors. "Our exclusive SCR-only design, in combination with multiple transmission options created with both productivity and ease of use in mind, means operators can get more done in less time with fewer inputs, every day. We've also increased the fuel tank so producers can cover even more acres before needing to refuel."

The new Magnum lineup includes nine models, all with available CVT and five available for the first time with CVT:

The new Magnum tractors provide up to 14 percent power growth, plus up to an extra 35 engine horsepower with Power Boost.

Case IH Magnum 380 Tractor"Our new Magnum 380 CVT tops out at 435 maximum-boosted engine horsepower," Klein says. "The Magnum line delivers the highest horsepower in its class, and the most efficient power ever."

Case IH is the only high-horsepower tractor manufacturer to meet EPA's Tier 4 B/Final standard without increasing fluid consumption or adding additional components to the Tier 4A emissions system. For producers who own Tier 4A Case IH equipment, no major operational changes or additional filters are required.

"Our exclusive and patented Tier 4 Final SCR technology treats exhaust only after it leaves the engine, minimizing the engine's exposure to soot and carbon. The result is that every Magnum tractor offers better reliability and minimal maintenance, like a 600-hour oil change interval," Klein explains. "SCR also provides more efficient, more complete combustion, which improves fuel economy."

First High-Horsepower Magnum CVT A new Magnum CVT configuration uses the same industry-leading double-clutch technology found in other Case IH Magnum, Puma and Maxxum tractors to deliver uninterrupted power to the ground, from creeper speed to transport speed. "Our engineers adapted it with four mechanical ranges to be more efficient and deliver more power for tough jobs," Klein says.

The Case IH CVT automatically selects the most efficient transmission range for the desired speed or load, eliminating the need for clutching or shifting, which makes it ideal for less experienced hired help. There's no breaking traction during shifting, for smooth operation in all field conditions and applications – from planting and hay baling to harvesting, hauling and transport.

"Case IH CVT owners will definitely recognize the easy-to-use, split-throttle control on the MultiFunction handle, designed to make CVT operation simple, regardless of operator experience," Klein adds. "The operator uses the throttle to select either working speed or RPMs, and the Case IH CVT automatically adjusts to match the need."

Customer-Driven Cab Upgrades According to Klein, Case IH design engineers know exactly how much is riding on being productive during long hours in the field. "That's why the Case IH Multi-Control armrest with MultiFunction handle puts all essential controls at your fingertips. And with the new Magnum series, we've made it even easier for your fingertips.

"Guided by customer input, we redesigned the buttons so they're backlit, raised, larger, softer and sized to differentiate functions. Now you can tell the buttons apart by touch alone, to make switching between functions even simpler. The handle also is backlit to make working at night easier."

Klein adds that the new Magnum lineup includes improvements to increase cab comfort and convenience. "A new ventilated seat with an extendable/retractable lower seat cushion is standard equipment. So is Bluetooth, so you can make and receive calls hands-free through the audio system."
