The John Deere 4520 and 4720 Compact Utility Tractors will now be powered by Interim-Tier IV compliant engines, which will produce less particulates and pollution. These tractors also have even more power to get work done faster and more efficiently. The 4520 will increase from 53 hp to 60 hp. The 4720 will increase from 58 hp to 66 hp.

To put this horsepower to practical use, the new 540/540 economy PTO will be available. The tractor can be run at substantially lower engine rpms while maintaining a 540 PTO speed which will save fuel, save money, and operate quieter. The lower sound levels will be of particular value in cab tractors with CD players.

With the simple push of a button, the engine speed will be linked to the pedal position. The customer can keep the throttle essentially all the way in the low position. The rpms and tractor speed will then increase with the pedal position, just like an automobile. While these tractors still have LoadMatch capability, the actual LoadMatch switch has been removed for a cleaner operator station. LoadMatch can still be turned off (and back on) via the instrument panel easily. If a customer has a need to turn LoadMatch off and on quickly, the switch kit can still be ordered through service parts.
