The new Massey Ferguson 461, with the most precise 3-point hitch in the industry, is specifically designed to meet the extreme needs of landscapers and site preparation professionals. Other MF 461 features include the proven 3-cylinder, turbocharged Perkins engine, rugged 8 x 8 Synchro Shuttle transmission for on-the-go direction change and a design that makes maintenance easy. It joins six other tractor models with the proven technology of the MF 400 Series.

“We listened to the owner/operators in this market and then designed the MF 461 for some of the toughest, yet most precise work a tractor can do,” says Denis Alizé, general marketing manager, Massey Ferguson. “Site preparation professionals and landscapers put in long, hard hours on their tractors, constantly shuttling between forward and reverse. They may need to spread a rock pad to within 3/8-inch specifications. The MF 461 is engineered to provide the rugged dependability, smooth shuttle and precise implement control required to fill those needs.”

At 55 PTO horsepower, the MF 461 is right sized for most landscape and site preparation needs, from mowing and grading to loading and backfilling. Its Perkins engine is Tier II emission-compliant and fuel-efficient. Removable side panels simplify routine engine service and maintenance.

"The MF 461 has the power our customers are looking for. With the Synchro Shuttle, shifting is so smooth, you can move into reverse while still moving forward," says Alizé. "It is the Ferguson 3-point hitch with its precision control that really sets this tractor apart from competitors. Standard telescopic stabilizers make rear implement attachment easier and safer."

All daily maintenance points can be reached without removing anything, while the removable grill allows easy access to the engine air filter, front lights and the low maintenance battery. Even the automotive style fuse box and fuses are easy to access.

The cast iron 4-wheel drive front axle offers better traction with greater stability and tighter turns. The 2-wheel drive front axle features a box-in-box design for easy tread adjustments. The low profile 2-wheel drive axle, featuring shorter spindles and heavy duty hubs, is ideal for tight turns in soft ground and loader work. Maneuverability is further enhanced by the foldable ROPS that allows the tractor under low roofs and into tight areas.

“The MF 461 shares the same design and many of the same features as you will find on our largest field tractors, but with the short wheel base needed for stability and maneuverability in industrial jobs," emphasizes Alizé.
