The MT200 Series tractors are designed and built for the demands of the professional operator. Whether it’s around the farm or on the work site, these tractors will deliver the power and productivity expected in a Challenger tractor.

“More than 25 key features preferred by compact tractor users, including 4- wheel-drive, power steering and a choice of standard, shuttle and hydrostatic transmissions are what set the MT200 Series tractors apart from the rest,” says Ron Heath, general marketing manager, Challenger compact tractors.

The MT200 Series tractors come in nine models ranging from 23 horsepower to 44 horsepower.

  • MT225 – 23.3 horsepower
  • MT255 – 28.4 horsepower
  • MT265 – 33 horsepower
  • MT265 Hydro – 33 horsepower
  • MT275 – 40.1 horsepower
  • MT285 – 40.1 horsepower
  • MT285 Hydro – 40.1 horsepower
  • MT295 – 44.2 horsepower
  • MT295 Hydro - 44.2 horsepower

Power and Performance The MT200 Series tractors are equipped with powerful 3-cylinder diesel engines. The MT295 uses a 4-cylinder naturally aspirated diesel engine. These tough diesel engines develop a maximum horsepower at a low 2,500 to 2,800 rpm, so there is less wear and tear, lower noise levels and reduced vibration. A unique indirect injection design allows for longer engine life and lower maintenance costs. Combustion starts in the cylinder head pre-chamber, then expands into the cylinder for a smooth, quieter burn.

Operators can choose from a variety of transmission combinations to meet their demands. The MT265, MT285 and MT295 feature the Powershuttle 16F/16R speed transmission. This combines the advantages of a synchronized transmission with a smooth, simple change of direction without the use of a clutch. This transmission features four creeper speeds, allowing the tractor to operate at speeds as slow as .25 mph.

Other transmission combinations include a 9F/3R sliding gear transmission on the MT255, an 8F/8R 2-range SynchroShuttle on the MT275 and a 2-range hydrostatic transmission on the MT225. Optional 3-range and 4-range hydrostatic transmissions are available for the MT265, MT285 and MT295 Challenger tractors.

MT200 Series tractors are equipped with a gear-type hydraulic pump, which independently powers the Category I 3-point hitch and auxiliary outlets. The power steering pump is independent of this system, so power can be maintained to implements without affecting the tractors steering and maneuverability.

The undercarriage is made of cast iron and steel for long life and durability. Tractor hoods and fenders are made of solid, heavy-duty steel, not plastic like several competitors use.

“Again this adds to the long life and durability customers can expect from their Challenger compact tractor,” says Heath.

Comfort and Safety Like None Other
The Challenger MT200 Series compact tractors feature up to 20 percent more operator area than major competitive compact tractors. The tractors are easily accessible from either side and feature full-flat or semi-flat decks, with plenty of leg and foot room. The seats are wide and comfortable, with all controls within easy reach.

Operator safety is never compromised for comfort. The MT 200 series tractors are built with retractable seat belts and Rollover Protective Structure (ROPS) as standard equipment. Certain models offer folding ROPS to allow for extra-low clearance when you need it. All models feature a neutral start switch that prevents starting unless the transmission and PTO are disengaged.

Wide Range of Attachments Add to Versatility
The MT200 series tractors have a wide range of applications around the farm from mowing, tilling the family garden, cleaning animal pens, loading manure and moving hay. Other markets include golf courses, contractors, landscapers, municipalities for maintaining schools, parks and recreation areas.

A full-range of attachments is available to meet any working requirement. From center mount mowers to front mounted attachments such as a snow blower, debris blower, rotary broom and dozer blades, the MT200 Series tractors can be used just about anywhere. Three-point hitch implements, including box blades, scraper blades, rotary tillers, grooming mowers, rotary cutters, landscape rakes, posthole diggers and a backhoe, are also available.

All MT200 Series tractors are available with R1, R3 or R4 tires to meet a wide range of agricultural, turf and industrial applications. The MT265, MT275, MT285 and MT295 models are also available with LSW radial tires for golf course usage.

Unsurpassed Service and Support
The MT200 Series tractors are sold, serviced and supported by Caterpillar dealers. The Caterpillar dealer network is world-renowned as the best-trained, most responsive dealer in the business. They are second to none in on-location service. Each dealer is linked to a 24-hour-a-day parts network to minimize downtime and maximize productivity. Their mobile service trucks carry more tools and diagnostic equipment than most repair shops.
