Valtra unveils new HiTech series tractors

Valtra’s response to other advanced power transmissions is the computer-controlled HiTech transmission. It brings together programming, electronics and highly sophisticated electrically controlled hydraulics as well as a combination of a mechanical and Powershift transmission in a new manner.

The strongest sales argument of Valtra’s medium-heavy range is now the new computer-controlled HiTech power transmission. It combines a mechanical, Powershift and reverser gearbox in a brand new fashion that is based on information technology.

The design goals were maximum safety, reliability and work output. Driving the tractor is increasingly less strenuous for the driver because the clutch pedal is needed only for safety reasons when starting the engine and in emergency situations. Safety has been taken to such limits that it takes a driver weighing at least 30 kg to get the engine to start. If the engine is switched off, the parking brake engages automatically.

The HiTech series consists of 11 models in the 80-160/200 hp power range. (In Germany 10 models 90-160/200) The largest model is the 8950 Sigma Power, which was awarded a gold medal at the previous Agritechnica for the operating principle of its power take-off. With the introduction of the HiTech range Valtra’s six cylinder tractors became the first in the tractor industry to feature a pneumatically suspended front axle, Aires.

HiTech has considerably boosted the versatility of Valtra Valmet tractors. The most competitively priced and easily operated bi- directional control system on the market has taken on a new user- friendly dimension. With a Valtra Valmet tractor a change of driving direction is achieved by swinging the driver’s seat around in a matter of seconds. In this respect the Valtra Valmet is a true driver’s tractor. The HiTech’s easy-to-operate power transmission control lever is now also to be found beneath the TwinTrac’s second steering wheel. Since clutch control is now handled by means of HiShift push-buttons, driving is considerably less physically demanding.

Contractors in particular will welcome this feature as a complement to previous productivity-boosting Valtra innovations, such as Aires pneumatic suspension and the virtually unbeatable power output of the Sigma Power, the king of power takeoff-driven machines.

The HiTech series also extends into smaller power categories. The 80 hp model 6250 and 90 hp model 6350 now come equipped with the same excellent transmission.
